OS1 - Introduction to Oscilloscopes
  • Friday 24th October 2025
    09:00
  • Taylors Auto Electrical (Dingbro)

    Fernhill Units,
    Lang Stracht,
    Aberdeen,
    AB16 6TX

  • This course is designed to introduce the use of an oscilloscope in automotive diagnostics. An oscilloscope
is a tool that can be used to analyse and diagnose electrical systems in vehicles. It allows technicians to
visualize electrical signals in real-time and provides a detailed view of the waveform.
Throughout the course, participants will learn how to use an oscilloscope to view a variety of electrical
signals from engine management components. They will also learn how to interpret waveforms and
understand how to identify anomalies in the signals.

    • Discover the basic principles of an oscilloscope,
including how it works and what it is used for in
    automotive diagnostics
    • Identify the different types of signals that an
oscilloscope can measure and how to connect the
    tool to the vehicle
    • Use an oscilloscope to analyse and view common
    electrical signals in vehicles
    • Interpret waveforms and identify anomalies in the
    signals
    • Highlight the importance of correct oscilloscope
settings and how to adjust them for specific
    applications
    • Use an oscilloscope for fault finding on ignition and
    fuel system components
    • How to document and present oscilloscope findings
    to colleagues or customers
